About Therapy and Wellness for Women
Anne, Kristen, Laura and Maureen share a deep passion for their work as therapists. It is their goal to provide care from a trauma informed perspective. This may include exploring limiting beliefs, negative thought processes and early childhood experiences, all of which contribute to presenting symptoms. Often anxiety, depression, mood swings, panic attacks, impulsivity, anger and other intense emotions are linked to unresolved past experiences.
Trauma can be classified as big “T” traumas, such as car accidents, natural disasters or sexual or physical assault and little “t” traumas which would include experiences of shame, guilt, or humiliation. In addition, we also work with clients who have complex trauma histories such as recurrent or prolonged childhood neglect or abuse.
Therapy and Wellness for Women clinicians are all trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), an evidence based practice for work in resolving traumatic memories. Each client's experiences are different and EMDR may or may not be our recommended course of treatment. We work with you to provide education on EMDR and discuss if it would be an appropriate fit for your unique experiences. Clinicians also have advanced training in how to utilize EMDR with complex trauma and dissociation.
